The Caribbean Resort and Day Spa Association has reached an agreement with ITEC UK and Barbados to establish an ITEC Jamaica Spa Academy in fulfilment of a pledge made at the Inter-American Development Bank’s “Private Investment Opportunities in the Caribbean Health and Wellness Sector Conference,” held May 9, 2006 in Washington D.C.
The ITEC accredited training programme was first identified on a panel presentation by Sharon Parris-Chambers, Executive Director, Caribbean Resort & Day Spa Association; Hannelore Leavy, Founder and Executive Director, Day Spa Association; and Eric Light, President, International Medical Spa Association (The prior are both based in the USA). A select group of wellness experts and entrepreneurs were invited to present papers and their 66experiences at the conference entitled “Private Investment Opportunities in the Caribbean Health and Wellness Sector Conference,"6 which was convened by the Inter-American Development Bank.
